SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Bolt's foundation teams with Samsung youth football tourney + Ricardo Gardener on board as inaugural ambassador

IDEAL CHOICE: Former Reggae Boyz skipper Ricardo Gardener (right, pictured above with ace sprinter Usain Bolt) is the official ambassador for this year's (inaugural) staging of the Samsung Youth Football Tournament, where nearly 50 prep and primary schools will compete (starting November 9) for a hefty first-place prize of US$10,000, a brand-new media room fully equipped by Samsung, trophies and medals. A launch took place on Wednesday at Devon House.

DARE TO DREAM: The Usain Bolt Foundation, meantime, has joined forces with Samsung to provide the balls to be used by the young participants in the competition. According to Bolt, partnering with Samsung was a no-brainer. "As the [foundation] continues to focus on one of our core values, a child's opportunity to 'Dare to Dream,' we will seek partnerships with organisations that create initiatives that promote these values," the sprint king is quoted as saying. "We are delighted to be able to support the Samsung Cup, as football is a game I personally enjoy playing, and I applaud them for making this investment in Jamaica's children."
