THE MUSIC ISSUE: News and notes from the studio to the stage

COVER ME: Ahead of the disc's July 1 arrival, reggae-rock songstress Tessanne Chin has unveiled the cover art for her much-anticipated major-label debut album, Count On My Love. It's a gorgeous, sultry image featuring the chanteuse in an ethereally relaxing pose that's nothing short of inviting. As for the record itself, must-hear tracks include the runaway hits "Tumbling Down" and "Everything Remind Me Of You" and the Diane Warren-penned "I Heart U" with production work from an A-list cast of hitmakers namely Stargate, Claude Kelly and One Republic's Ryan Tedder

BACK TO THE FUTURE: Another hardworking entertainer gearing up to drop a new record, Protoje is taking fans on a fresh roots-reggae odyssey with his third studio album titled Ancient Future, a source tells TALLAWAH. The album is led by the radio-perfect, Chronixx-abetted lead-off single "Who Knows". Ancient Future goes on sale in September.

FAMILY TREE: September also promises the arrival of the Chino and Stephen McGregor joint studio album Great Minds Think Alike (GMTA). But weeks before the album's scheduled fall release, the boys will join their legendary dad Freddie McGregor onstage at Reggae Sumfest's International Night 2 for a special performance in honour of McGregor receiving the lifetime achievement award from Summerfest Productions. "We'll be performing alongside a live orchestra," Chino tells TALLAWAH

THE EXPERIENCE: T.O.K keeps reminding us that they never tire of seeking out new ventures for growing their fanbase. With a new reality series, Taking Over, premiering on CVM next month, the high-flying bandmates are also prepping a concert experience like no other for their instalment in the Beat & A Mic series at the Whitebones Restaurant, Manning's Hill Road, on June 28. It's a performance not to be missed.

WORD UP: Also on the horizonWord Cup, a feast of live music and dub poetry taking over the Red Bones Blues Cafe, 1 Argyle Road, on July 5. It features a dynamic squad of ace performers, including Randy McLaren, Dutty Berry, Mel Cooke and Mutabaruka
