PHOTO OF THE WEEK: 'Warrior' princess Keneisha Smith triumphs at National Gospel Song Finals

WINNER TAKES ALL: On Sunday when the curtains came down on the 2014 leg of the National Gospel Song Competition at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston, attendees witnessed the commencement of a new chapter in the life of young Keneisha Smith, who bested a strong field of contenders to emerge champion (at age 22), making her one of the youngest winners in the history of the long-running music-based competition. She won for her rollicking number "Prayer Warrior," which picked up sectional awards for Best Lyrics and Best Performer. Digicel's Sandra Ledgister shared in th joyous moment, presenting Smith with a sleek new cellphone and call credit. The petite powerhouse, a UCC alum, also took home a hefty cash award; a recording contract for a single courtesy of Almond Productions; a one-year subscription devotional courtesy of Reconciliation Ministries; a day pass courtesy of Kool Runnings Adventure Park, and the JCDC trophy. Coming in a close second as Orville Sutherland ("Cool Shade") and Adrian Dell ("Blessed & Highly Favoured) claimed third place. (Photo: JCDC)
