After enjoying a breezy Christmas holiday that included a treat for the kids in his hometown of Sherwood Content, the World’s Fastest Man kicked off his January 2016 itinerary with a relative bang, taking the hot seat across from host Ian Boyne on TV J’s Profile last Sunday. The 29-year-old sprint legend was in a sharing mood, serving up candid reflections on everything from his illustrious Olympics career and towering legacy to some controversial moments he’s had to put behind him, as well his feelings on where his journey into manhood has taken him and where he’s heading next. According to word-of-mouth reviews, Bolt’s interview is a slice of must-see TV. The champ even dished on his personal life, the hope of one day tying the knot and eventually starting a family of his own. In the meantime, the RJR Sports Foundation Awards are on this Friday, January 15, at the Jamaica Pegasus, where Bolt is expected to take home, once again, the highly coveted Sportsman of the Year award, before turning his full attention to preparations for the Rio Olympics.
COSTUME PLAY: Bacchanal 2016 promises something for everyone
Customarily one of the first big events on the entertainment calendar to be introduced each year, Bacchanal Jamaica recently hosted its 2016 launch in Kingston, which was strongly supported. This year’s festivities are being held under the theme “Bacchanal Legacy.” According to Bacchanal Jamaica director, Charmaine Franklin, the 2016 crop of costumes are to die for and are sure to satisfy carnival faithfuls as well as the large crop of new partygoers eager to experience the fun of Jamaica Carnival. “We have a wide range of creative designs, including the front-line and borderline costumes that have become quite popular and the addition of a few super front-line costumes,” Franklin says. The more modest partygoers were also taken into consideration. Says Franklin, “There will be t-shirts and leisure wear for the more conservative.”
