SCENE & HEARD: Sunshine Girls + Chris Martin + Floyd Green + Nugent Walker + Romain Virgo + PM Andrew Holness

GRAND OPENING: Nov. 2, St. James. Weeks after touring first zone of special operation, Mount Salem, with the security forces, PM Andrew Holness was back in St. James to participate in the ribbon-cutting exercise to mark the official opening of the GWest Medical Centre in Fairview. The centre’s opening couldn’t be more timely, given the findings of a health economic research conducted by the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVCC), revealed at a recent public health forum in Kingston. CHAMPIONSHIP SPIRIT: Oct. 29, Australia. Following a dynamite performance that saw the squad copping silver-medal honours behind the English Roses, Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls and team officials share lens time at the Fast 5 Championships, which served up sizzling netball action in Melbourne. VALUE FOR MONEY: Oct. 29, St. James. A cheque presentation to the Church on the Rock family was one of the highlights at last week’s church service and brunch to mark the start of Youth Month 2017, at the popular Montego Bay-based place of worship. Floyd Green right), State Minister for Education, Youth and Information, was on hand to present the donation to Pastor Richard Keane and Joye Keane. (Photo: Sleek)

SHOW STOPPERS: Oct. 29, St. Andrew. A high-energy entertainment package traditionally brings the curtains down on the annual Pan Chicken Championship Finale. This year, patrons were treated to thrilling performances by Christopher Martin, who invited Romain Virgo to join him on stage, Agent Sasco and Sizzla. The finale took place at the Half Way Tree Transport Centre. (Photo: Sleek)

DISTINGUISHED GENTS: Oct. 22, United States. While Usain Bolt was basking in the spotlight and chatting it up with man-of-the-moment Lewis Hamilton and others, at the US Formula One Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, Executive Manager Nugent ‘NJ’ Walker (left) was making the rounds and bonding with movers-and-shakers like former US President Bill Clinton.
